A Commitment to Grow the Association & Not-For-Profit Community in New York State

In Partnership with

Empire State Development
and
New York Society of Association Executives

We're Committed to Helping You Find a Home in New York State.

Before a standing-room only awards luncheon at NYSAE's 18th Annual "We Love New York Day," Governor George E. Pataki made a commitment to support the development of the association and not-for-profit community, acknowledging the industry's many contributions to New York State.

Governor Pataki, who received the NYSAE 1996 Outstanding New Yorker Award, vowed to work with us to make New York the number one location of choice for associations and not-for-profits. We honored the Governor for providing innovative support and outreach, not only to businesses and industries of all kinds in the state, but to associations and the not-for-profit community. The Pataki administration made great strides in improving the quality of life and the business climate in New York and, in doing so, created an ideal environment for associations and not-for-profits.

There's no doubt about it: NY LOVES ASSOCIATIONS. Perhaps nothing shows this more than the Association Center building. The result of a private/public partnership between New York and NYSAE, there's no place like it in the world. An entire building--30 stories, 600,000 square feet--devoted to associations. Incentives include one year free rent, generous tenant improvement allowances and, depending on your IRS classification, a partial to total exemption from real estate tax. It's no surprise that 40 associations have made the center their home.

Everything the state has done--cutting taxes, workers' compensation reform, reduced crime, regulatory streamlining, the rebirth of the Javits Convention Center, the renaissance of 42nd Street, the Association Center--is helping greatly to strengthen the New York association community.

George E. Pataki
Governor of the State of New York

In 1996, Governor Pataki invited the New York Society of Association Executives (NYSAE) to submit to him an industry blueprint for strengthening the association industry in New York State.

The blueprint helped inform the Pataki Administration on the dynamics of the not-for-profit and association community and what it needs to increase its presence in New York.

Empire State Development - the state's economic development arm - and NYSAE have formed a partnership to implement many of the recommendations outlined in NYSAE's blueprint. I'm gratified we are making significant progress in implementing several of these recommendations.

Whether you are looking to expand your association or not-for-profit organzation in New York or relocate here, Empire State Development stands ready to assist you.
