Three NYSAE members spoke recently at digitalNow’s 14th Annual Conference, sponsored by Fusion Productions and hosted by the Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau. Thomas Loughlin, Executive Director of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, spoke on Galvanizing Your Value Proposition. He addressed how associations can advance their missions while addressing society’s critical issues. Andy Steggles, President & Chief Customer Officer of Higher Logic and a recent presenter at NYSAE’s Technology Institute, spoke on Engagenomics: How Does Your Member Engagement Drive Satisfaction? He addressed how to quantify the satisfaction levels of members who are engaged versus those who are not and more importantly, how this data can help associations make strategic decisions on where to focus resources. Wells Jones, CAE, Chief Executive Officer of the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind, joined a panel discussion on How To Implement A Winning Management Scorecard Strategy. The group explored the crucial measurement strategies they implemented that led to increased member engagement, streamlined operations, reduced costs, enhanced staff productivity, and overall stellar organizational performance. Jones is also on the Advisory Committee of digitalNow.

Marriott Hotels opened the company’s 4,000th hotel—the Marriott Marquis Washington, DC. The hotel features striking an all-glass rooftop and a 56-foot steel sculpture centerpiece, as well as cutting-edge technology, including interactive TVs in every guest room allowing guests to stream their own content from their tablet or mobile device to the hotel’s DAS System and a just-released Marriott Hotels mobile services app, which allows guests to digitally request everything from an extra towel to a wake-up call. Connected to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center via an underground concourse, the Marriott Marquis Washington, DC, brings more than 105,000 square feet of meeting space, 1,175 rooms including 49 suites, and five dining experiences, said Jeffrey Fagan, Director of National Accounts, Marriott Global Sales Organization.
