The Telly Awards has named the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB) as a Silver winner in the 36th Annual Telly Awards for the organization’s Here for the Making: PHL & The African American Experience in the Online Video-Travel/Tourism category. The PHLCVB is also the Bronze winner for PHL: Here for the Making in the same division. With nearly 12,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries, the award is the highest honor bestowed by the Silver Telly Council. In February 2014, the PHLCVB, the City of Philadelphia, and sales, marketing, business and economic development organizations from across the region came together to launch the city’s first joint attraction campaign, PHL: Here for the Making, aimed at strengthening Greater Philadelphia’s position as a world-class destination for business gatherings, expansion, talent attraction and global tourism. From groundbreaking discoveries to history changing conventions, the campaign highlights Philadelphia as a place where people from all backgrounds can pursue their goals and dreams. One of the key elements used by partners in the campaign is the PHL: Here for the Making video, which highlights the compelling stories about the individuals and businesses making great things in the city and region. As a component of this campaign, the Multicultural Affairs Congress (PHLDiversity), a division of the PHLCVB, created the video Here for the Making: PHL & The African American Experience, which highlights the African-American attractions and organizations that continuously bolster Philadelphia’s multicultural hospitality and tourism industry. Serving as a marketing tool for attracting diverse conventions, conferences, meetings and trade shows, the video has been used by PHLCVB’s sales team and by the featured attractions themselves in their marketing efforts, as Philadelphia continues to increase its share of America’s booming international tourism industry. The Telly Awards recognizes outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films.
