Michael Cummings, Principal of Tate/Cummings, a new association consulting firm, spoke at ASAE’s Marketing, Membership & Communications Conference on Does Your Social Media Policy Pass the Sniff Test? Cummings addressed what happens after your social media policy is crafted and campaigns are implemented, how to ensure that activity is monitored and that your policy is keeping pace with changes in communications technology, law, and social media providers' guidelines.

Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau

Michael Van Pary, President of the Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau (CCSB), reports that ear-to-date, it has put more than 226,000 lead room nights into the pipeline for its members, exceeding its goal of 200,000 by 13%. This represent a 157% improvement over last year. The CCSB also has locked in more than $65 million in total sales on definite business, are supporting more than 19,000 hospitality jobs, and delivered upwards of $5 million in direct sales tax revenue to the State. The Bureau’s membership continues to grow with just above 15% more than its 2013 numbers.

American Chemistry Council

The Washington Post has named the American Chemistry Council (ACC) one of its 2014 Top Workplaces. The 2014 Top Workplaces were determined based solely on employee feedback through a survey conducted by WorkplaceDynamics, LLP, a research firm specializing in organizational health and employee engagement. ACC employees rated the organization highly in all areas of organizational health, but placed a particular emphasis on noting that the Council has a clear sense of direction, executes its mission and vision brilliantly, and ensures employees feel valued. Other attributes scoring highly among the organization's employees included benefits and compensation, opportunities for career development and advancement, respect for a healthy work/life balance, and productive mentoring by managers.

Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau

As a result of efforts by the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB) the City drew 673,000 overseas visitors in 2013, marking a 13% increase over the previous year according to data compiled by the US Department of Commerce, Office of Travel and Tourism Industries (OTTI). The increase in visitation also moved Philadelphia up a slot on the list of Top 20 U.S. Cities for Overseas Visitation, climbing from 14th to 13th on OTTI’s list. Earlier this year, PHLCVB ramped up efforts to promote the city as a global tourism, meeting and convention, education and business hub, unveiling a new joint attraction campaign PHL: Here for the Making. Strategic partners in the new campaign include the City of Philadelphia, Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, Select Greater Philadelphia, Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Greater Philadelphia Hotel Association, the African American Chamber of Commerce and Campus Philly.
