NYSAE’s newest Shared Interest Group (SIG) for Executive Women in Nonprofits kicked off in April with 25 women meeting at the offices of the American Group Psychotherapy Association. The SIG is comprised of chief executives—CEOs, COOs, executive directors, vice presidents—working full time for a nonprofit, trade association or professional society.

Maria Cuomo Cole was the featured speaker at the SIG’s June meeting. Cole discussed the importance of CEO relationships and focused on how women executives work with Board members, on mentor relationships, and on the support they receive from family members. Cole was interviewed by Tony Martignetti of Tony Martignetti Nonprofit Radio, with a follow-up roundtable discussion with SIG attendees. The interview and discussion was recorded in high def video and will air on an upcoming episode of Tony Martignetti Nonprofit Radio. Each week there are over 9,000 listeners in small- and mid-size nonprofits.

Cole is chair of HELP USA, the leading national developer of housing for homeless and low-income populations including families, victims of domestic violence, and veterans. She serves as a director on the boards of Mentoring USA, The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, and HELP PSI.
