What the HACK!?!A Cyber Security Summit for Associations

When:  May 17, 2017 from 08:00 AM to 12:00 PM (ET)

WYNDHAM NEW YORKER HOTEL

481 8th Avenue | New York, NY 10001

Hacked email servers. Compromised websites. Hijacked Networks. Viruses and Malware. These are everyday occurrences that are reported nearly every day . The threat to your organization’s private information, including member records, financial information, and other data being compromised is more real today than ever before. And the challenges will only increase. Unfortunately, many organizations take a “That’s IT’s problem…” approach.

But if you think information security is solely IT’s job, think again!

In today’s associations and nonprofit organizations, everyone in the organization from contract employees to the newest intern to the Director of Gizmos to the CEO is responsible for protecting information. The reality is that everyone must be vigilant in the workplace to have a protective mindset and an awareness of data protection. Quite literally, it is now part of the definition of what it means to be an association professional.

In this half-day summit, our experts will share mind-blowing insights on how your whole organization can understand what it means to be a guardian of its most precious, but often asset.

Some of the topics will include:
  • Protecting Credit Card Information
  • Protecting Member Information
  • Risks and Rewards of using the Cloud
  • Don’t Open that Email!!!
  • What your staff members need to know about protecting member data
  • Demonstrations of how hackers work
  • Insurance considerations

How to Stay Safe in an Unsafe Internet World

Security, security, security… you can’t turn on the news without hearing about the latest hacks into major retail outfits and corporate networks… news about insecure email servers, credit card scams, phishing trips, suspicious text messages, ransom-ware compromises, organized foreign cyber-attacks… and what is the dark web, anyway?

How can you get your work done, send and receive emails, visit websites, and just plain interact professionally without compromising yourself or your organization? The NonProfit World has a special responsibility to safeguard the critical data of its constituents. Member and donor relationships are built upon trust over many years. Losing that trust can be devastating.

Hacking - It's Not Magic!

A good magician doesn’t reveal the trick – but a “white hat” hacker can! We will go through the process of hacking a real person in real time. See how hackers perform reconnaissance, scan for vulnerabilities, and use social engineering to gain access to the victim’s email, computer, and more! All along you’ll learn what steps you can take to reduce your association’s risk. This session will include actual demos of how a hacker can find easy points of entry to your online properties.
