Project Management Ideas
You Can Actually Use

Whether your project is a conference, fundraiser, workshop, or promotion of a new service or product, every project has key steps and challenges. During this workshop you will hear from three experts in project management. Jeri Quinn will discuss the concepts and practical application of communication explaining the two parts of our brain amygdala and pre-frontal cortex. Charlie Garland will explore a few fundamental concepts around innovation and innovative mindset. He will demonstrate a few simple innovation tools and techniques to help overcome the challenges caused by our own blind-spots and lack of knowledge. Ellen Bayer will highlight how measuring and evaluating projects leads to greater productivity, better performance and enhanced return on investment. Whether you are a Project Manager, Executive Director or leader of a functional area, there is something for everyone in this workshop.

Jeri Quinn will address:
Communication greases the wheels of every aspect of your project leading to on-time and on-budget results. Conversational Intelligence® helps us understand the neuroscience behind how we relate to each other, how we share the mission, how we enroll volunteers to participate, and how we can co-create the outcomes we seek. You’ll learn about the conversational dashboard, the 3 levels of conversation, and a tool you can use to facilitate more engagement from all your stakeholders.

Jeri Quinn, President of Driving Improved Results, is an executive coach, trainer, and communications expert with a practice based in neuroscience. She focuses on coaching leaders and teams to create wonderful work cultures in organizations that want to be extraordinary and inspiring.

Charlie Garland will address:
"Tools for Innovative Project Management"
Innovative Project Management is a practice that helps Project Managers (PMs) improve the quality of the project management process, through leveraging a few fundamental concepts around innovation and innovative mindset. Two major challenges beset most project managers that we will discuss: pro-activity and cognitive bias. PMs, like any professional discipline, tend to make the mistake of erring on the side of being reactive (rather than being pro-active), and allow themselves to retain blind spots because of the negative impact of cognitive biases (which affect all humans, virtually all the time). He will present and demonstrate a few simple innovation tools and techniques to help overcome these challenges, to reduce risks associated with project management execution, and to improve the quality of the process results. This often leads not just to the satisfaction – but to the delight – of the project customer/sponsor.

Charlie Garland is president of The Innoviation Outlet. He is the Developer of The Innovation Cube (a.k.a. CubieTM - a Critical Thinking & Creative Problem-Solving Tool); Developer of Cognitive Buoyancy ("The Trigger to Innovation"); Senior Fellow of HITLAB (Healthcare Innovation & Technology Laboratory @ Columbia University Medical Center).

Ellen Bayer will address:
Measuring and evaluating a project or a program is a critical part of project management. If you don't know the effectiveness quotient, you cannot make quality decisions about its value. Ellen Bayer, an Executive Business Coach and Leadership Consultant, will address these issues at the program. She works with individuals and organizations across the country to make sure that their skills and knowledge lead to greater productivity, better performance and enhanced return on investment. Based in New York, her company, Framing Change, was founded to help leaders align their attitudes and behaviors with the vision and goals of their organizations. Using hard data and coaching insights, she is dedicated to assuring her client's success. She is a trained business coach and holds advanced degrees in management and organizational effectiveness.
