James A. Woehlke, Esq., CPA, Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel, MBL Benefits Consulting Corp.
Jim joined MBL Benefits Consulting in 2010. Previously, he was general counsel of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants for eleven years and director of tax policy for the four years preceding. He also served for four years as a technical manager in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ Tax Division. Jim practiced accounting with KMG/Main Hurdman, including one year with that firm’s Washington National Tax Office, and law with the Wichita, Kansas, law firm of Fleeson, Gooing, Coulson & Kitch. Jim is currently licensed in New York as an attorney and CPA.
Jim is very active in professional societies, currently serving as vice-chair of the Association of Corporate Counsel’s (ACC) Council on Committees, Treasurer and on the Board of the ACC Greater New York Chapter, and on the Legal Section Council of the American Society of Association Executives. He served two terms as the ACC Nonprofit Organizations Committee Chair and one term on the Nonprofit Organizations Committee of the New York City Bar Association. Jim is also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He holds ASAE’s Certified Association Executive designation.
Jim graduated cum laude from Grove City College. He received his J.D. and M.B.A. from Drake University and a Master of Law–Taxation with distinction from Georgetown University Law Center. Jim and his wife Kristal live in Poughkeepsie, NY, where they raised their five sons. Jim held the ASAE CAE designation from 2000 to 2013.
