Since its inception in 1994, the Forum has served to bring together New York's key nonprofit CEOs and COOs. The Forum plans meetings three or four times a year-generally at breakfast time-to provide the opportunity for informal discussions with peers, and to hear top speakers on topics critical to the not-for-profit community.
The Forum is limited to about 350 CEOs/COOs of New York's top not-for-profit organizations. These include the big national trade and professional associations currently located here, plus New York's largest health, cultural and social service organizations. This sector employs nearly half a million people and adds over a billion dollars to New York's economy from conventions and meetings each year.
Our meetings attract about 100 CEOs/COOs. Mayors Dinkins and Giuliani, Health and Human Services Secretary Donna Shalala, NYS Commissioner of Economic Development Charles Gargano, Deputy Mayors Peter Powers and Fran Reiter, President of NYC Economic Development Corporation Charles Millard, NYC Comptroller Alan G. Hevesi, Manhattan Borough President C. Virginia Fields, Senator Charles Schumer, Speaker NYS Assembly Sheldon Silver, NYS Attorney General Eliot Spitzer and Michael Bloomberg of Bloomberg News have addressed the Forum.
Megan McLaughlin, Executive Director of the Protestant Welfare Agencies and Robert O. Lehrman, Special Counsel of the Hundred Year Association of New York are Co-Chairs. The Steering Committee is broadly representative of New York not-for-profit leadership.
The Forum coordinator is Joel Dolci, President of the New York Society of Association Executives (NYSAE). NYSAE has served New York's association/not-for-profit community for over 80 years and currently represents over 2,000 members from these organizations.
