NYSAE Board of Directors member Neil Mullanaphy, Convention Manger for the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA), reports that ATSSA presented three of its most prominent awards during its 46th Annual Convention & Traffic Expo at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. Presented awards included ATSSA’s National Safety Award, which recognizes public officials who have made extraordinary and significant contributions to the safety of America’s highways; its National Media Award for fair, balanced and informative reporting in transportation and roadway safety; and its Industry Achievement Award was presented to a member who has achieved distinction, attained eminence in the roadway safety industry or made unusually significant contributions to the association.

Michael Weamer

Michael Weamer, President & CEO of The Marfan Foundation and NYSAE Chair of the Board, has been named a member of the Board of Directors at the Association of Black Cardiologists.

Visit Houston booked a record number of room nights tied to conventions and meetings last year, just as the organization reached new heights in website visitation and tourism-related room nights. The record successes came in the first full year of the alignment between Houston First Corporation and the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau, which combined their efforts in July 2014 to gain additional resources and create a single clear voice for the city under the brand Visit Houston. The Destination Sales team booked 732,967 room nights for future meetings in 2015, a 29% increase over the 569,440 nights booked in 2014 and the largest number ever logged by the organization. S.T.E.M. (science, technology, engineering and math), medical and education industry meetings led the increase.

U.S. News & World Report also recognized 83 Marriott International hotels as hospitality leaders in its annual best hotels evaluation of hotels that offer high-quality amenities and exceptional experiences. Hilton

U.S. News & World Report honored three hotels within the Hilton as the best hotels in the USA and 19 as one of the best hotels within their market. All hotels were named as part of the publisher's annual ranking of hotels that offer high-quality amenities and exceptional experiences.
