NYSAE Members On Their Feet
At Meet NY 2016

NYSAE's one-of-a-kind buyer hosted event, Meet NY, included an afternoon of top-notch educational sessions, networking, and a mini trade show and reception. Meet NY was capped off with a great Broadway show—On Your Feet, a musical about Emilio and Gloria Estefan, which featured some of the most iconic songs of the last 25 years.

Education Extraordinaire

The afternoon began with two outstanding professional development sessions, held at the New York Marriott Marquis. Kathleen M. Thompson, Detective, Counterterrorism, New York City Police Department, spoke on what to do when confronted with a shooter in the workplace or a convention.

Recent news events have shown that active shooter situations are unpredictable, evolve quickly, and, in most cases, show no pattern or method to the selection of victims. Detective Thompson provided association executives and meeting planners with recommendations to mitigate the risks from an active shooter attack, whether in your office or at your annual meeting. James Kane, a renowned loyalty expert and author, spoke on The Loyalty Switch. In an appearance sponsored by Keppler Speakers, Kane explained the science behind loyalty and human relationships. His message to association executives and meeting planners was that by understanding loyalty-building behaviors, organizations can develop relationships with their members, donors, and meeting attendees that will result in unwavering and unlimited support.

Reception and Trade Show

Following the education program was the reception and trade show, also at the New York Marriott Marquis, hosted by hotels, convention and visitors bureaus, and others involved in the association and meeting planning industry. Networking was the word of the day, as participants learned more about the products and services of the host companies, while enjoying some tasty nibbles.

Host companies provided their guests to tickets to On Your Feet, showing at the Marquis Theater, inside the New York Marriott Marquis.
