Today's General Counsel, a news feed I receive, warned this morning about a programming glitch in OpenSSL, the protocol used for secure internet transmissions. You can read about it here: http://www.todaysgeneralcounsel.com/personal-data-millions-risk-major-internet-security-lapse/?utm_source=morningnewsletter.
I also confirmed the issue at snopes.com. See, http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/heartbleed.asp. So this is not a fake virus warning.
The bottom line is that you will need to change your passwords. TUMBLR recommends you make those changes right away. But you'll need to re-do them when the fix to OpenSSL, which was issued this April 7, is installed everywhere.
