The American Automobile Association (AAA) honored The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs for a 39th consecutive year with its esteemed Five-Diamond Award for Excellence, making it the only hotel to receive the AAA designation every year since its inception. AAA also recognized The Broadmoor’s Penrose Room Restaurant, awarding the restaurant with the AAA Five-Diamond for the eighth consecutive year.
Congratulations to Jennifer Ian, MBA, CAE, Director of Member Services and Chapter Relations at the American Thoracic Society, on obtaining her Certified Association Executive (CAE) from the American Society of Association Executives. The CAE designation is designed to elevate professional standards, enhance individual performance, and identify association professionals who demonstrate the knowledge essential to the practice of association management. Founded in 1960, the CAE Program stands as a mark of excellence and has evolved to reflect what it takes to manage an association in today's challenging climate.
January marked the 25th anniversary of JER HR Consulting LLC, a compensation and HR consulting firm for top-tier tax-exempt organizations of all sizes. Originally established by James Rocco as James E. Rocco Associates, Inc., it began as a boutique consulting firm focusing on servicing health and human agencies, educational institutions, performing arts organizations, foundations and associations.

Peter Rush, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Kellen Company, noted that it has acquired The Sherwood Group, a Chicago-based association management firm, which includes more than 20 national and international associations, professional societies and foundations specializing in the health, science, technology and business fields. Sherwood Principals John Waxman and Greg Schultz have been named Kellen Company Group Vice Presidents, and Liz Freyn has been named Vice President of Meetings.

New NYSAE member Matt Schechter, National Sales Director, San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau, announced that a number of local landmarks and attractions will be celebrating anniversary years in 2015. Among them: the iconic Balboa Park, originally built for temporary use during the 1915 Panama-California Exposition, will celebrate its 100th anniversary; Chicano Park, now home to the largest collection of Chicano art murals in the world, will celebrate its 45th anniversary; The San Diego Opera will celebrate its 50th anniversary; and the seaside village of Coronado will celebrate its 125th anniversary.
