Join ASAE and Visit the Hill on American Associations Day

American Associations Day is the only legislative fly-in where association professionals connect with Congressional offices and share your story on important association issues, like tax reform, allowing federal employees to attend private meetings, or nonprofit governance. The day allows association executives to create connections with policy-makers that will not only advance the association industry, but your own organization as well.

The event is open to any association executive, staff member, or leadership volunteer that is passionate about association issues and wants to make a difference, as well as meet and network with fellow advocates from across the country. Registration is free, and out-of-town attendees are eligible to receive a scholarship of up to $300 to reimburse travel costs if they visit their members of Congress.

Among the issues currently being debated in Congress and the Administration that may affect your association:

  • Changes to the tax code that may redefine or remove association exemptions for their educational purposes;
  • Considerations of political activities that may alter how associations advocate for their members;
  • Further legislation to limit federal attendance at association meetings and educational events;
  • More changes to the new ACA regulations that impact how associations provide coverage to employees.

American Associations Day will take place on March 25-26 in Washington, DC. A block of rooms has been reserved at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill. Participation in American Associations Day not only helps increase the influence of associations in Washington, but it is also a great opportunity for networking and education within the community. Additionally, the ASAE Board reception offers unparalleled connecting opportunities with the leaders in association management. To register, or if you have any questions, contact Mary Kate Cunningham, ASAE Public Policy Manager, at 202-626-2787 or mcunningham@asaecenter.org, or visit the fly-in website at: www.thepowerofa.org/hillvisit.
