Michael L. Weamer, CAE

Michael L. Weamer, CAE, has been named President and Chief Executive Officer of the Marfan Foundation, the only nonprofit organization in the U.S. that funds research, provides patient support, and conducts public and medical education to create a brighter future for everyone affected by Marfan syndrome and related disorders. Weamer joins The Marfan Foundation after more than two decades with the American Heart Association (AHA), where he most recently served as the Executive Vice President of the Founders Affiliate, a $70 million organization serving the Northeast. Michael has great appreciation for volunteer networks and staff relations, as well as expertise in corporate connectivity and big picture visioning. He is Chair Elect of NYSAE's Board of Directors.

Nine brands within Hilton Worldwide's portfolio received more than 50 accolades from the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association (HSMAI) at its Adrian Awards. Hilton was also the winner of three Platinum Adrian Awards, one of HSMAI's most coveted honors. Celebrating a broad range of marketing segments including digital marketing, advertising and public relations, the Adrian Awards is one of the most respected honors to receive in the travel and hospitality industry. The Awards are judged by approximately 200 advertising, public relations, media and digital marketing industry experts, along with leading members of the travel community.

Marriott International has been ranked the World's Most Admired Lodging Company by Fortune, another step toward its vision to be "the world's favorite travel company." Ranking 37 out of the top companies across the globe, Marriott is the highest ranked hospitality company on the list, and the highest ranked company in its headquarters' region, which includes the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia. Marriott ranked number one in seven of nine key attributes of reputation identified by Fortune: people management; use of corporate assets; social responsibility; quality of management; financial soundness; long-term investment value; and global competitiveness.

The Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB) and Pennsylvania Convention Center announced that the 2016 Democratic National Convention will be held in Philadelphia. "In addition to their commitment to a seamless and safe convention, Philadelphia's deep rooted place in American history provides a perfect setting for this special gathering," said Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz. The Pennsylvania Convention Center and the Wells Fargo Center which will host the official DNC events. The Democratic National Convention was last held in Philadelphia in 1948 and the Republican National Convention was held in Philadelphia in 2000. The 2016 Democratic National Convention is expected to generate between $170 and $250 million in economic impact for the city.
