NYC & Company Supports Meetings Mean Business Coalition During the 4th Annual Global Industry Day

In support of the Meetings Mean Business Coalition (MMBC) during its 4th annual Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID), NYC & Company—the official destination marketing organization & convention and visitors bureau for the five boroughs of New York City—spearheaded and participated in the Tristate Meeting Planner event, drove local awareness efforts through LinkNYC screens and lightings, sponsored and participated in regional activations nationwide and joined global gatherings.

Aligning with the celebration of GMID on April 4, NYC & Company hosted the annual Tristate Meeting Planner event at Union Square Events, where more than 300 planners and countless NYC & Company members networked and showcased the power of face-to-face meetings.

NYC & Company also collaborated with iconic landmarks and significant buildings across Manhattan and Brooklyn to light the NYC skyline blue from sundown to 2 a.m. This initiative was introduced to shed light on the global economic impact of face-to-face meetings ($2.53 trillion, according to Oxford Economics research sponsored by the Meetings Mean Business Coalition.) In 2018, the five boroughs welcomed 6.2 million meeting delegates and 13.4 total business travelers (up 3% from last year.) That represents approximately 20.5% of total, annual visitation.
